Reviews and Comments

from publications, audience, performers, and colleagues:

Oregon Artswatch: The Banfield from PDX: "The rhythmic drive so entralled me that I didn't realize it was written using the stereotypically discordant 12-tone system."

Oregon Artswatch:  Fog, Rain, Wind from PDX:  "...provided the most beautifully spellbinding music of the evening."

Oregon Artswatch: PDX:  "This is the finest and most entertaining music I've heard from this veteran Cascadia Composer."

Other comments on the PDX performance:  "The whole piece was very well crafted and enjoyable!" "I loved it!"

Comments on Liz Nedela's music:  "Your music is so well written: You think in 'complete thoughts.'  It's enjoyable to listen to, and also to perform!"  "--challenging, but worth the work!"  "Well thought out and well developed!"  "Your music 'speaks for itself!"  "I just go to YouTube and find pieces you wrote and just sit and listen to them!"  "...your adagios are beautiful...very evocative writing.."  ".....'deceptively difficult'--looks and sounds easier than it actually is!  I love the challenge!"  "The music you write for students is pleasing, fun, pedagogic but approachable; my students love it!"  "You know how to weave modern idioms with classical style -- I especially like the rhythms you use!  They're like 'rock rhythms' interwoven with classical style and motifs, and you do it so well!  It's one of your gifts!  It makes your music 'timeless', yet modern!"
